Obituary
TRUMANN - Rev. Hershel Eugene Motes, 76, of Ward, AR, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009 in Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was a member of Gracepoint Jesus Name Church in Beebe, AR, a minister of the gospel for 45 years, a veteran of the Korean war, member of the American Legion Post 26 of Lepanto, AR. And was retired frm Mid-South Mfg. of Marked Tree. Mr. Motes was a devoted family man who enjoyed raising chickens, rabbits, and gardening. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Glendora, three infant children, his parents, U Vellia and Jessie Motes; one sister, Hazel Owens; two step children, Kathy Clem and David Moore. Mr. Motes is survived by his wife of 18 l/2 years, Kathryn Motes, three sons, George Motes of Tyronza, Gary Motes of Payneway, and Kevin Motes (Gina) of Harrisburg; two daughters, Deloris (Roger) Ellington of Quitman and Gloria Motes of the home; six grandchildren, Brent, Tyler, Amanda, Brian, Steve, and Cynthia; two brothers, Elvie Motes of Mt. View and Paul (Pam) Motes of Lonoke; eight sisters, Ella Mae Stroud, Wanda (Tino) Fortich, Genice (David) Cardenas of Mt. View, Edna Williford of Drasco, Fern (Jerry) Knapp, Olivie (Wheeler) of Concord, Thelma (Walker) Brown of Cave City, Melvie (Jerry) Kleinschrodt of Vanderbilt, MI; three step-daughters, Theresa (Roman) Seneski of Clio, MI, Anita Bishop of Ward and Shelly (Ernie) Fairless of Zephyrhills, Fl and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann with Revs. Richard Price, David Moore and David Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery near Harrisburg. Active pallbearers will be Gary Motes, George Motes, Steve Ellington, Brian Motes, Russell Wilson,and Bill Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Motes,Paul Motes,Jonathan Motes and Anthony Motes.
