Mr. Odis Odell Jones of Myrtle, Miss., was born on Saturday, October 1, 1921, son on the late John and Mary Vanderhyden Jones. Mr. Jones died Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Golden Living Nursing Home in Ripley, Miss., at the age of 86 years 9 months and 26 days. He was born in Alma, Ark., and had lived a year in Ripley, Miss., and was formerly of Trumann. He was a retired factory welder, veteran of the U.S. Army and World War II and a member of the West Tallahassee Baptist Church. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Francis Jones, one son, Charlie Odell Jones, one daughter, Brenda Sue Jones and his parents. Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Faye Slagley of Salem, Ark., and Doris Sue Jordan of Myrtle, Miss.; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday morning August 1, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral of Trumann with Rev. David Owens and Rev. Larry Tribble officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Springs Cemetery in Harrisburg, Ark. Pallbearers will be Joshua Owens, Al Campbell, Chad Bishop, Donald Webb, Jerry Whitsett and Ricky Willbanks. Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Biggers and Mike Bennett Visitation will be held Friday morning August 1, 2008 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann.
