Mrs. Ruby Mullen was born on Saturday, July 4, 1903, the daughter of the late Alvin and Carrie Doyle Canterbury. Mrs. Mullen died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City, Ark. at the age of 102. She was born in Red River County, Texas and had lived most of her lifetime in Trumann. She was a retired factory worker for the former Singer Company and of the Protestant faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Mullen in 1937; two sisters, Amy Drew and Allie Whittaker and her parents. Survivors include five nieces; Barbara Brown of St. Louis, Carolyn Wilson and Sharon Robbins both of Trumann, Ruby Couch of Jonesboro and Ruby Johnson of South Haven, Ms.; three nephews, Donald Drew of Versailles, Mo., Neil Whittaker of Jonesboro and Danny Drew of South Haven, Ms. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann with Rev. Garvin Pulley officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery in Walnut Ridge, Ark. Pallbearers will be Brian McElyea, Richard Hayes, Dan Drew, Matt Drew, Kevin Drew, and Derek Hayes. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home.
