Obituary
Eva Elizabeth (Mimi) Schmidt, 76, passed away at St. Bernard*s Hospital on Thursday, March 16, 2006. She was born on Monday, September 16, 1929, in Tipton, Missouri to Henry J. and Regina (Hunthausen) Koerkenmeier. She attended Mount St. Scholastica Academy in Atchison, KS and graduated from Tipton High School, Tipton, MO. in 1947. She is survived by her husband of the home Richard F. (Dick) Schmidt of 57 years, two daughters and four sons: Susan Schmidt, Prairie Village, KS; Doris and Dennis Penter; Wayne and Janet Schmidt; Steve and Kathy Schmidt; Donald and Kathy Schmidt of Trumann; Dr. David and Paula Schmidt of Little Rock; three brothers and one sister, Norman and Elmer Koerkenmeier, Tipton, MO; (Ret.) Col. Leo Koerkenmeier, Vienna, VA; Rita Krapf, St. Louis, MO; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The grandchildren will serve as pallbearers: Dennis, Jr. and Zachary Penter, Courtney, Donald, Jr., Jonathan and Logan Schmidt. Honorary pallbearers - Grandchildren: Dr. Genie Burnett, Kristie Dickson, Andrea Carlisle, Sarah, Isabella and Lathrop Schmidt. Friends - Charles Zipfel, Hubert Brodell, Bob Myshka, Bud Lamar, Morris Simmons, David Ferguson, Dr. Derrick Woods, and Dr. Trent Lamb. Eva was preceded in death by her parents and one infant son John. She lived most of her life in Trumann and Jonesboro, AR and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church for 54 years. She was involved in the Women*s Guild and was a Curillistas. She devoted her life to her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sibling and friend. She was passionate about her faith, good food, music and her pets. Our heart felt thanks go out to Virginia Chaffin and other members of the North East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging, as well as St. Elizabeth*s Place and St. Bernard*s Medical Center, for her care. Visitation will be at Blessed Sacrament Church, 614 South Church, Jonesboro, AR 72403, (adjacent to St. Bernard*s Med. Ctr.), on Sunday from 5 PM - 7 PM; a Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be Monday, March 20th at Blessed Sacrament Church. Eva will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery. Due to the Lenten season, flowers will not be allowed in Church. Instead, the family suggests contributions to the Blessed Sacrament Building Fund P.O. Box 1735 Jonesboro, AR 72403. Envelopes will be located in the Church. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Thompson Funeral Home, 870-483-6313.
