Obituary

Charles Creecy was a family man that enjoyed life. There are many fond memories of him hunting, fishing, water skiing, and riding motorcycles. He saw the good in every person and in every situation. He loved to laugh and to hear others laugh. He was a true handyman; if you described it, he could build it, and if you broke it, he could fix it. Charles was born in Kaiser, to Samuel and Lela Bell Huckabee Creecy on June 2, 1941. He moved to Trumann with his young bride, Sharon Birmingham Creecy in 1959. They had two children, daughter Donna, and son Tommy. He provided for his family as he served for 22 years at Singer. They attended McCormick Baptist Church. Charles was a Master Craftsman and utilized his woodworking talents until retirement through Delta Wood, Arbor, and Creecy’s Custom Kitchens. After retirement, he was apartment manager for Tommie Holden, becoming a part of their family as a loyal and valued friend.       As his daughter married, they welcomed grandchildren, Crystal (Murphy), Patrick and Matthew Johnson, and Annabelle McDonald. His son married Tammye Fortenberry and more grandchildren arrived, Charley, Henry, and William Creecy. Charles found great pleasure in his family. Many memories were made sharing vacations, various outings, and hobbies together. Charles was married to Sharon for 36 years until her sudden passing in 1996. He later married Martha Flowers and she survives him.       As grandchildren grew and married, great-grandchildren were added to the family-Brody and Zachary Murphy, Patrick, Deanna, Devin, and Dylan Johnson, and Vincent Padgett. Many more special memories were had as Charles beamed with pride over his love for his family. He is survived by two sisters, Ruby Howard and Sue Tucker, and two brothers, James and Troy Creecy, as well as his best friend Richard Clem of over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty Creecy Laire and two brothers, Willie and Herman Creecy.       Charles lived a full and beautiful life with no regrets. He was diagnosed with metastatic stomach cancer on November 7, 2019 and entered Heaven on February 3, 2020. His family wishes to promote awareness of stomach cancer as it is the 2nd leading cause of death in men and 4th in women.       Visitation will be February 6, 2020 from 12:30 - 1:30 and the service at 1:30 in the chapel at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, AR.       An online register book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net
