Obituary
Mrs. Danell Wood of Trumann departed this life on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the family residence at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 7 days. She was born Saturday, December 14, 1935 in Caruthersville, MO to the late Benjamin and Pearlee Russell Taylor and lived most of her lifetime in Trumann. Danell was a retired Nursing Home Administrator and a member of First Baptist Church in Trumann. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Cherie Renee Wood Jones; one sister, Dortha “Dot” Taylor; two brothers, Earl “Bittie” Taylor, and James “Shorty” Taylor; and her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, George Wood of the home; two granddaughters, Skylar Jones of Jonesboro and Erica Jones-Straver of Trumann; two great-grandchildren, Ian Straver and Aurora Straver; and three sisters, Delois Moore of Lucas, KY, Sue Sloan of Pevely, MO and Carolyn Hall of Woodson Terrace, MO.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Trumann. Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Maley officiating with Thompson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Honorary pallbearers are Justin Richardson, Dane Hubbard, Dillon Hubbard, Jerod Straver, Rickey Jones, Mike Secrease, Randy Passmore, Bubba Reese, Todd Whitlatch, David Lyles, Gerald Hunt, Joe Underwood, Wes Osment, Gaylon Henley, Gary Russell, Barry Wood, Dwight Criss, and Henry Secrease.
In compliance with COVID-19 guidelines, social distancing will be required along with face masks and the signing of a COVID-19 form.
