Obituary
Mr. David ”Shane” Smith of Paragould departed this life on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, AR at the age of 54 years, 2 months and 14 days. He was born Friday, December 2, 1966 in Albuquerque, NM and lived in the Paragould and Jonesboro area most of his lifetime. David was a shop supervisor for Jonesboro Tractor and a member of Sanctuary Church of Jonesboro. David loved to hunt, fish, all farm animals read and study the Bible, and helping people. He was preceded in death by his father, George C. Smith, Jr., both sets of grandparents, and one uncle, James “Blondie” Guntharp.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Smith of the home; one son, Dustin Miller of the home; two daughters, Schleena (Jacob) Jackson of Sioux City, IA and Starla ( Justin) Gibson of Jonesboro; guardian daughter, Annie Carter of the home; mother and stepfather, Judy and Bud Dailey of Brookland, AR; five Grandchildren, Evey Jackson, Desmond Jackson, Harley Jackson, Silas Hale, Elijah Gibson and one on the way Christopher Levi Gibson.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 23rd from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Christian Life Center in Brookland. A Celebration of life will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Revs. Kenneth O’Connell and Jesse Gay officiating. Burial will be private at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro, AR.
In compliance with Covid-19 guidelines, a mask or other facial covering is required, a Covid-19 acknowledgement form is required to be signed and social distancing will be observed.
