Obituary
Betty Lou Carter of Trumann departed this life on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, AR at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 6 days. She was born on Saturday, April 10, 1938 in Lepanto, Arkansas to the late Oscar and Mollie Conatser and was a lifetime resident of Trumann. She was a retired florist. She owned and operated Carter’s Flowers and Gifts for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carter; sister, Mary Lee Walker; son-in-law, Jeff Crawford; grandson, Jason Crawford; and her parents.
Betty is survived by daughters, Sandy (Rick) Crawford van Loon of Sterlington, LA, and Karen (William) Penna of Brandon, MS; one son, Neil (Treva) Carter of Jonesboro; brother, Woefud Conatser of Trumann; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Valley View Church of Christ and also attended Viva Drive Church of Christ in Trumann. Betty was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Poinsetta Club, and two card groups. Betty enjoyed taking care of her cats, being with her friends, golf, shopping, attending church activities and rode trips with her daughters.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 25th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. Celebration of Life will be Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Spencer Furby officiating. Burial will be private at Willis Cemetery near Harrisburg.
Pallbearers will be Michael Conatser, Kelvin Conatser, Bill Smith, Justin Tims, Terry Smith, and Randy Simpkins. Honorary pallbearers are David Penna, Justin Carter, Kaleb Blondin, and Jacob Blondin.
In compliance with COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing will be required along with face masks and the signing of a COVID-19 form will be required.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House for the love and care they should our mother during her stay.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the Breast Cancer Pink Warrior Walk, 400 East Street, Jonesboro, AR 72401.
