Obituary
Sherry Jean Walton Bishop of Trumann departed from this life on Friday, May 28, 2021 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, AR at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 22 days. She was born Monday, January 6, 1941 in Poinsett County and lived her lifetime in Trumann. She was the daughter of the late John Dean and Lois Lanella Bonds Walton. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry “Bill” Bishop , one brother Donald Walton, and her life long friend Carolyn McMullin.
Sherry was an avid sports fan especially basketball, she was an excellent cook as she cooked for any occasion when asked, a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed loving her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, Robin Bishop and Karen Hendrix of Trumann, one daughter, Tammy Terry also of Trumann, three grandchildren, Trey Terry, Brittany Terry, and Madison Sullivan,
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. Funeral services will be held at l0:00 AM Wednesday morning in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Barker officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park in Jonesboro.
Pallbearers will be Tim Bufford, Keath Sullivan, Paul McAnally, Matt Moon, Brent Henderson, and D.J. Penter. Honorary pallbearers are Lee Roy May, Bob Stotts, Dale Whitlatch, Johnny Whitlatch, Mike Dungan, Rick Gillette and all McCormick Alumni.
In compliance with Covid-19 guidelines, a mask or other facial covering is acceptable a Covid-19 acknowledgement form is required to be signed and social distancing will be observed.
All who assisted with her care at NEA Baptist Hospital are to be commended and thanked.

"Ms. Bishop was someone special. She loved watching basketball and would attend every game. She had a heart of service. She was an amazing cook and would bring meals to the Trumann Police Department, we ate like kings! She will be sorely missed.
