Obituary
Wells Miller Dungan of Trumann departed this life on Monday, October 25, 2021 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR at the age of 86 years 7 months and 10 days. He was born Tuesday, March 12, 1935 in Jonesboro and lived most of his lifetime in Trumann. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora E Carr Dungan; and his dad John Wells Dungan and his mother, Vera Miller Dungan.
He is survived by one daughter, Vera E. Dungan of Trumann; one son, Thomas W. (Claudia) Dungan of Edinburgh, Scotland; grandson, Max Dungan of Edinburgh, Scotland; two brothers, Mike (Effie) Dungan of Trumann and Gary (Nancy) Dungan of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Tracie Dungan of Fayetteville, AR and Tammie (Ronnie) Harper of West Plains, MO and a host of nieces and nephews.
Wells graduated Trumann High School in 1953. He was a wildcat football player and class treasurer. He enjoyed duck hunting, fishing and being with his group of friends. As a member of Boy Scouts of America, He achieved the Eagle Scout Badge and Order of the Arrow. He attended college in Auburn, Ala. He was a United States Navy veteran from 1954 to 1958. After Navy he settled in Atlanta, GA where he met and married Dora E. Carr. They returned to Trumann with family in 1976, where he took over Dungan Brothers Furniture from his Dad. In his later years, he enjoyed going to ballgames, Estate sales and Auctions. He still went to the store everyday enjoying staying busy. He went for coffee with his brother Mike and small group of friends. He was well liked and respected in the community and willing to give anyone a helping hand when needed. He will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 30th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Jernigan officiating.
