Obituary
James Robert “Bobby” Martin departed this life Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, TN at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 24 days. He was born on Wednesday, February 20, 1952 in Jonesboro, AR to the late Lloyd E. and Oma (Knight) Martin. Bobby lived his childhood in Trumann, AR. He remarked recently what a wonderful childhood he had with his cousins, neighborhood friends, and school friends. Bobby stayed in touch with many of his childhood friends as they fished, hunted and shared good times up until his death.
Most important were his faith, family, friends. He looked upon his friends as part of his family. Always active, many hobbies took up Bobby’s time. There was never a time he was not involved in repairing, building, hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, photography, etc. He was a veteran of the National Guard. He had a bachelors degree from Arkansas State University in Marketing and Computer Science. He had a knack for resolving issues and was always willing to take time for others.
First Baptist Church of Trumann, AR was the place where Bobby gave his heart to the Lord, was baptized and formed a personal relationship with his Lord. After he moved to Memphis, he became involved in Bartlett Baptist Church by singing in the choir and being faithful to his Sunday School Class, serving as the greeter to each person as they arrived. Before retiring he worked for Shelby County in Memphis, TN., in their technology dept. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Brenda Martin, daughter, Rachel Martin, Sister, Deborah Martin, brother, Barry Tubbs; nephew, Barry Tubbs Jr. niece, Micah Tjeerdsma; and several close cousins.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Trumann. Celebration of life will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. John Maley officiating. Committal service will be Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Don Young, Tommy Lindsey, Phillip Cole, Jim Baldridge, Junior Hendrix and Bobby Hightower.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials be sent to Trumann First Baptist Church, 1301 AR-69, Trumann, AR 72472 or Bartlett Baptist Church, 3465 Kirby Whitten Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38135.

"Brenda and Rachel, I'm so sorry for your loss. I loved Bobby like he was my own dad, and he was always so fun when he would come hang out with dad. What a joyous meeting they had in heaven tho. They can be troublemakers together again!
