"I was saddened to learn of Fred's passing just today. Fred was a very good friend and he and I shared many adventures as youngsters in Trumann. As is often the case, I lost touch after leaving the NEA area, and I was not aware of his battle with cancer despite asking about him often. It's a sad loss for all of us.
