Glady Laird

September 20, 1919 - January 4, 2007

Mrs. Gladys L. Pruitt Laird was born on Saturday, September 20, 1919, daughter of the late Dolphis Lindsey and Flossie Humphrey Posey. Mrs. Laird died Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the age of 87 years, 3 Months and 15 days. Born in Jasper, Alabama, she had lived in Bay for the past five years and was formerly of Alabama. She was a homemaker and member of the Providence Baptist Church. Mrs. Laird was preceded in death by her first husband, Grover Pruitt and her second husband, Chester Laird; two great-grandchildren, Michael Lee Walker and Julie Ann Pruitt and her parents. Survivors include three daughters, Cornelia Walker of Weiner, Cleta Anschultz of Bay and Brenda Hellums of Montgomery, Ala.; six sons, Jackie L. Pruitt of Huntsville, Ala., Junior Pruitt of Ravenden, Leon Pruitt of Rockford, Il., Carl Pruitt and Jimmy Pruitt both of Trumann, and Gary Pruitt of Jonesboro; one sister, Elaine Daniels of Curry, Ala.; two brothers, Roy Posey of Jasper, Ala., and Andrew Posey of Florence, Ala.; 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral service will be Monday, January 8th at 10:00 a.m. at the Providence Baptist Church in Trumann, with Rev. Bobby Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, Arkansas under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann. Pallbearers will be Mark E. Pruitt, Darrell D. Kirby, Shaun M. Kirby, Kenny Allen Pruitt, Rickey Allen Pruitt and James Dale Pruitt. Honorary pallbearer will be Steven Jaco, Bryan Matthew Pruitt, Michael Pruitt and Mark Tribble.
