My Dad, LC Lancaster, still recounts the first time he had dinner with the Dycus family. Dad was sweet on my Mom, who was Melvin's oldest sister. My Uncle Melvin (who was about 7 yrs old) was sitting next to Dad at the dinner table. My Dad asked him to pass the biscuits, to which Melvin replied, "You've had five to my one." lol
The things I remember most about my Uncle Melvin, he always so genuinely excited to see us when we came to Trumann for vacations. He would always take my husband, Gary, fishing on the St Francis for catfish. Then would come back and have a fish fry and hush puppies. But what I will miss the most is how he always called me "darlin". Even though I wasn't the only one he called that sweet term, he made feel special. The last time I called him he still called me that and I can still hear his voice.
I'm sorry we cannot be there to support our relatives during this time but we are there in spirit. It's nice to know he is sitting on a porch next to my Mom, Uncle Fred, Aunt Betty and my Mamaw and Papaw!
We love you Uncle Melvin, may you R.I.P.

I loved my Uncle Melvin! I looked up to him as a young boy. He was a " Father Figure" to me. He instilled in me a love for the outdoors. He let me tag along several times and treated me just super! He told me once as we were leaving the squirrel woods ( I might have been ten at the time) " Ronnie, I could have followed your trail by the dead black birds and Blue Jays." I might not enjoy hunting and fishing today if not for Uncle Melvin. I'm passing it on " Bud!" Thank You for caring about me. So long! Xoxox

I always enjoyed our trips to Turmann as kids and visiting family. The stories Uncle Melvin used to tell me about our Arkansas, my cousins, his brother and sisters, etc were always interesting. And the fishing trips he and Uncle Fred took me on are still vivid in my memories. Also, how could I forget, the cat fish and frog leg fries out in the back yard! Over the last few years we mostly just talked on the phone, but it was alway enjoyable! His answering the phone "hello bud, I'm so glad you called" brought a smile to my face. He will be missed!
My prayers go out to you all!
Love Wayne

Melvin was a super man! He also was a real asset to Trumann and will be greatly missed. I was blessed to have counted him as my friend, and as a friend to our entire family. I pray that God conforts all of you in this time and please accept our most sincere condolences from the Vickers family.
