Melvin George DycusSeptember 11, 1937 - February 12, 2021 Mr. Melvin George Dycus, Sr., of Trumann, Arkansas departed this life on Friday, February 12, 2021 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 1 day. He was born Saturday, September 11, 1937 in Bogota, Tenn., and had lived most of his lifetime in Trumann. Mr. Dycus was a former supervisor for the Singer Company and several other woodworking companies. He was a member of the Trumann Lions Club and a member of Parkview Missionary Baptist Church in Trumann. He enjoyed being around his neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Lancaster and Betty Branch; one brother, Fred Dycus and was the son of the late Houston Herb and Hazel Jewell Upton Dycus. Mr. Dycus is survived by two daughters, Denise (Steve) Chaney of Waterloo, Ill and Gina Dycus of Trumann; one son, Melvin (Jennifer) Dycus, Jr. of Trumann; one step-son, Hilton (Ina Raye) Hurdle of Weiner, Ark.; one sister, Carolyn (Bobby Fletcher of Trumann; four grandchildren, Merrick Dycus, Maddox Dycus, Hollyn Dycus and Cristal (Zach) Humphrey; one great-grandson, Jasper (J.J.) Humphrey; two step-grandchildren; Matt (Amanda) Hurdle and Alexis (John) Besharse; one step-great-grandson, Knox Hurdle and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Feb. 20th from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. A Celebration of life will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Bro. Robert “Bubba” Reese and Bro. Wayne Hillis officiating. Burial will be private at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. In compliance with Covid-19 guidelines, a mask or other facial covering is required, a Covid-19 acknowledgement form is required to be signed and social distancing will be observed.
