Vera May Young

October 9, 1924 - August 9, 2022

Vera May Young of Trumann departed this life on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at the age of 97. She was born in Baldwyn, Mississippi and lived in Trumann for the past 26 years coming from California.  She was a homemaker and member of the Providence Baptist Church.  Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Young on June 11, 2000; one son, Dennis Young, 5 brothers, 2 sisters and her parents, Robert and Gracie Mae Harris Whitaker.              She is survived by one son, Wayne (Liz) Young of Grass Valley, CA; two brothers, Boyce Whitaker of Trumann and Felix (Faye) Whitaker of Brookland; 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.    The family will receive friends on Thursday August 11th from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., at Providence Baptist Church, 904 Swaney in Trumann. A Celebration of Life will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Bobby Brooks officiating. Committal service will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Bolivar Cemetery near Harrisburg with Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann in charge of arrangements. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Whitaker, David Whitaker, Lonnie Whitaker, Donnie Whitaker and Tony Ragsdale.      An online guest book can be signed at thompsonfuneralhome.net
