John was working for the park commission in the mid seventies when I was working on a summer job assigned to John. He was kind and also fun to be around. We would ride around Trumann in his truck. I riding shotgun always and constantly was adjusting the side mirror. John calmly would ask me to adjust the mirror for him. He did it so quietly and respectfully that I never imagined that I was the cause for John's adjustments. I think of John often especially when dealing with someone younger than me. John was a great example for young men like me growing up poor in Trumann. God rest his soul.
