Opie Joseph RogersDecember 11, 1925 - April 7, 2016 Mr. Opie Joseph Rogers of Trumann died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 26 days. He was born Thursday, November 12, 1925 in Scotland, Ark., and had lived most of his lifetime in Trumann. He was a retired farmer, WWII veteran of U.S. Navy and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by one son, G.R. Rogers; one grandson, Danny Kennedy; two sisters, Johnie Burk, and Ida Bell Holly; one brother, Melvin Rogers and his parents, Green and Carrie Tester Rogers. He is survived by the his wife of 67 years, Inez Isom Rogers; five daughters, Opal Griffin of Panama City, FL, Carolyn Burks of Anna, TX, Linda Hassee of North Carolina, Virginia Owens of Hardy, AR and Judy Mooneyham of Trumann, AR; one sister, Elane Henson of Cherokee Village, AR; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Bill Willard officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland, Ark. Pallbearers will be Clint Rogers (Grandson) Jeremy Blair, Michael Staten, Van Mooneyham, Philip Wilcockson and Carl Long.
