M. Laverne Mars Montgomery

Mrs. Laverne Mars Montgomery, 59, of Trumann died Tuesday, July 17, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. She was born in Marked Tree, Ark., to the late Marcus and Audrey Jane Lundy Mars. Mrs. Montgomery lived in Trumann since 1986 and was formerly of Marked Tree; head cook for CDI Head Start and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her husband of 37 years Johnny L. Montgomery, two daughters; April Denise Russell of Trumann and Christina Jane Courtney of Bay, one son; Charles Lane Montgomery of Trumann, one sister; Evelyn Mills of Hamilton, AL, one brother; Eddie Mars of Trumann, nine grandchildren; Jonathan Smith, Melody Smith, Tyler Harrell, Asya Miller, Tawny Pierce, Autumn Kemper, Bobby Russell Jr., Aiden Sweeney, Kristyn Courtney and one great-grandchild; Bridgett Nikkole Kemper and her dear friend Debbie Smithson. Funeral service will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Sister Jackie Byest officiating. Burial will follow in the Marked Tree Cemetery in Marked Tree, Ark. Pallbearers will be Charles L. Montgomery, T.J. Mars, Jonathan Smith, Wade Harrell, David Russell, Bobby Russell, Jackie Russell, Ronnie Swan and Alan Harsson. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. Memorials my be made to the American Cancer Society.
