Mrs. Edith Mae Gann was born on Saturday, February 10, 1923, daughter of the late Arthur and Daisy Livingston Smith. Mrs. Gann died Monday, July 5, 2010 at Skilcare Nursing Center in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 87 years 4 months and 25 days. She was born in Harrisburg, Ark., and had lived her lifetime in Trumann. Mrs. Gann was a Homemaker and life long member of Healing Hands Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Franklin Gann, two sons, Johnny and Eugene Gann, three brothers, three grandchildren, and her parents. Mrs. Edith Gann had lived at Skilcare Nursing Center in Jonesboro for the past eight months. She was well known for being called the Apron Lady by Channel 8 News. Mrs. Gann loved making aprons and giving them to people for free. Her pay was when they came to pick up the aprons with big smiles on their faces. Mrs. Gann looked forward to seeing their smiles. Her children were so very proud of their mother who was a kind, caring, and loving person. Survivors include three sons, Darrell Gann of West Memphis, Wayne Gann of Columbia, MO, and Calvin Gann of Conway, Ark.; four daughters, Caroline Gann of Frostproof, FL, Louise Upton and Brenda Sipa both of Jonesboro, and Wanda Biggers of Angleton, TX; one brother, Guy Smith of Trumann; 29 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Rev. Mike Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery near Harrisburg, Ark. Active pallbearers will be Larry Woodruff, Bobby Meridith, Danny Biggers, Ralph Guthrie, JD Guthrie, and Donald Guthrie Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann. An online register book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net.
