James M. McCarty, Jr.

Mr. James Macon McCarty, Jr. was born on Wednesday, April 11, 1928, son of the late James Macon and Lula Brooks McCarty, Sr. Mr. McCarty died Monday, May 31, 2010 at Skil Care Nursing Center in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 82 years 1 month and 20 days. He was born in Athens, Ala., and had lived most of his lifetime in Trumann. He was retired from the Singer Co. and of the Pentecostal faith. Mr. McCarty was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Clem McCarty, two brothers, Woodrow and George McCarty, four sisters, Mary Ella Parsley, Della Gean Green, Illa Dean Pipes, and Eloise Dessa Hill, and his parents. Survivors include one son, Mike McCarty and wife Joyce of Bono, Ark., and special friend, Sally Miles of Lunsford, Ark. Funeral service will be Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, with Rev. Gary Gipson officiating. Burial will follow in the Willis Cemetery near Trumann. Pallbearers will be Bobby Wheeley, Jay Harper, Michael McKinney, Keith Battles, Donnie Battles, Byron Williams, and Tad Dye.
